Our land surveying (BIM) services uses the latest technologies and techniques to give you an accurate representation of the potential issues with the land and your future construction plans for it.
Our land surveyors will include the maximum possible detail in their land surveys. The types of techniques used will include survey by total station and GPS, and the topological plan will also take into account any landmarks that could possibly hinder your future development plans including trees, roads and surface level and elevation.
Why are Land Surveys Important?
Land surveys are a very important step should one be undertaking a future extension or brand new construction project. Having the land surveyed not only provides you with information on the suitability of the land to be built on but will also look at potential obstructions and, importantly, boundaries. Ensuring you have a clear understanding of these things before embarking on your project is of vital importance as coming across these issues in the construction phase of your project is not only time consuming but expensive.
The land surveyors at Gwalia Surveyors will work in conjunction with you to really get you know your project and work out exactly what you require from your land survey. It is important to carry out the land survey in the early stages of development at it will contain information that will be invaluable to architects and engineers.
We offer a 360 degree approach with our services handling individual services or your project as a whole. Get in touch with us today to find out how we can help.
Who may require a Land Survey?
There are many reasons why our clients come to us but some of the more frequent surveys include:
- Site Survey of a proposed development, either residential or commercial. We are not put off by the size of a project and have completed huge site surveys pin the past.
- Accurate measured building surveys of already constructed buildings
- Engineers contacting us for surveys to establish the appropriateness of land for projects such as roads
- Architects often request land surveys before designing a building to take advantage or be wary of the lay of the land or it’s landmarks.
- Other requests for surveys have come from individuals needing boundaries highlighted, listed building development, and land registry plans

What Equipment Is Used In Land Surveying
At Gwalia we use the latest and greatest equipment possible to ensure your land survey is as accurate as possible. The main surveying instruments we use are total station, theodolite, GPS/GNSS, dumpy levels, Philadelphia rods and measuring tape (because sometimes old methods work the best). We are also delighted to have some of the most modern equipment available in our arsenal including 3D laser Scanners and drones equipped with high resolution cameras. This modern equipment, combined with our many years of experience, greatly reduces the time a land survey takes.
