Case Studies

We’ve been lucky enough to work on a lot of projects over the last 30 years.

We offer the same level of service on every job we do and here are a few examples of the clients we’ve worked with and what they thought of us!

Carillion have employed Surveys Gwalia on a number of school projects in South Wales to provide accurate survey information of existing buildings, site levels and existing services scanning. The Surveys Gwalia team react to the tight timescales that we ‘impose’ on them and provide the information to an excellent and ‘user friendly’ standard’.

Millennium Stadium

We worked with Laing O’Rourke, WS Atkins and WRU to act as Survey Consultants on the construction of the iconic Millennium Stadium.

We provided topographical surveys of everything above and below ground. This included the telecom tunnel systems and telecom building, the North Stand, River Taff, nearby Westgate Street and Cardiff RFC site.

Survey control was also used for the subsequent setting out and design of the stadium.

Balfour Beatty

We were asked by Balfour Beatty to provide Utility mapping for the regeneration of Callaghan Square in Cardiff.

Ysgol Bro Dinefwr

Bouygues approached us to provide 3D Building Information Modelling, Topographical, Measured Building and Utility Surveys for the school, which was built to BREEAM Excellent Standard.

Land Surveys

Morrisons, Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury’s

We were asked by Longcross to oversee a number of new build and refurbishment projects for supermarkets across the UK, providing Topographical, Measured Building and CCTV Utility Surveys.

BBC Cardiff Central

We were part of the £80M works package secured by ISG. The negotiated contract, which represents one of the largest ever private developer-led projects to be built in Wales, saw ISG construct the 150,000 sq ft BBC Cymru Wales Broadcasting House opposite Cardiff Central Railway Station. We were appointed to carry out a number of Topographical and Utility Surveys on this project.

John Lewis, Birmingham

We were part of a £15.5M project to fit out the new John Lewis department store in Birmingham. The 250,000 square-foot building is one of John Lewis’ largest stores outside London and is part of the new Grand Central development above Birmingham New Street Station. Gwalia surveyors were commissioned to complete various engineering services.

Harrods, London

We provided our services for the £200m refurbishment of Harrods Store in Knightsbridge. Gwalia Surveyors carried out Utility Survey works.

Toy Store, London

We were part of the £3.6M project to fit the shop’s 27,000 sq ft ground and first floor with all core and non-core fixtures and fittings. Gwalia surveyors were commissioned to complete a survey package consisting of topographical and setting out engineering.

National Rail

Joint Venture between Gwalia and Resource Group combined the aerial capability and survey expertise to generate a holistic long-term asset management view of the route. The western route spans from Exeter to Newton Abbot and is notoriously vulnerable to storms and cliff instability.

Sighthills Glasgow Regeneration

Gwalia surveyors were commissioned to carry out multiple underground investigations across the £220m development on the outskirts of Glasgow City. Another example of our diverse in-house capability.
